The Project
The Fan Fiction Book Cover project was an assignment for my coursework at Southern New Hampshire University. It involved designing two separate covers for a fictional fan fiction book based off a popular book/movie. I based my book covers off the Hunger Games book series by Suzanne Collins. The target audience for these books was fans of the original book series or movie series.
Design Process
Having recently watched the Hunger Games movie series, I decided I would use that as a basis for my book covers. This fictional book is written from the perspective of one of the main characters, Peeta Mellark, and is meant to be a whiny tell-all story of his experiences during the Hunger Games competition. To complete this project I researched images of the covers for the Hunger Games book series, and posters from the Hunger Games movie series.
For this project I designed two very different book covers, one is lighter, softer, and more sappy, while the other one is darker, bolder, and more serious. The dark cover is inspired by Hunger Games movie posters, while the white cover is an original design.
